Grass cutting teams tackle overgrowth

The municipality has confirmed grass cutting has started in Durban, and affected areas will be attended to.

A PINEWOOD Gardens Road resident has added his voice to the chorus calling for overgrown properties in the Glenwood area to be cut. According to the resident, who asked not to be named, the grounds in Pinewood Gardens Road, Umbilo, haven't been cut since last year.

The resident said he had been in contact with the municipality but nothing had been done to cut the grounds in the road.

“The weeds are over two metres in places, it is very unsightly. Something needs to be done, as the property hasn't been cut since last July. I'm getting no joy from the municipality,” he said.

In response, eThekwini Municipality’s communications head, Tozi Mthethwa, said: “The Municipality wishes to inform the public that the grass cutting of unmaintained verges and the clearing of weeds on hardened surfaces and gutters has commenced. Cooperatives began working in different areas from Wednesday, 30 December to clear the backlog and it may take some time to reach all affected areas. Any inconvenience caused due to the delay is regretted.”
