Child dies in nine-storey fall

Police will investigate details as to how a child ended up falling from the ninth floor of a building in Overport.

A CHILD has died after falling from the ninth floor of a building in Overport.

According to Netcare 911’s Chris Botha, paramedics and the provincial paramedics received a call at around 6.33pm, and a report from the scene indicates that the child was left in the flat while his father went to meet someone at the entrance of the building.

“Paramedics found the child lying on the ground with life threatening injuries. Tragically, the child died before our arrival due to the extensive injuries that he sustained,” said Botha.

He said exact detail as to how the child ended up falling from the window will form part of the South African Police investigation.
