THE Durban Transport Bus Service has resumed operations after Tansnat employees embarked on industrial action over the late payment of their bonuses and December salaries in the new year.
eThekwini municipality released a statement this afternoon, confirming they have already processed the payment of 1000 verified employees. The remaining employees, not more than 10, who have not been paid their December salary and bonus, will be paid by tomorrow morning, 15 January 2015.
The City’s intervention was to avert the crisis after Durban Transport bus operator Tansnat approached the City indicating that they
have a funding shortfall to pay their workers. Accordingly, the City is addressing the shortfall by paying the workers.
All Durban Transport buses will be back in full operation from tomorrow morning.
The municipality apologises to commuters for the inconvenience caused during the interruption of the bus service.
