BEREA policing precinct enjoyed a relatively quiet festive season with only a few incidents of crime over the holidays.

According to Colonel WR Xulu, acting station commander at Berea SAPS, “There were a few incidents in Berea here and there but we had a good and blessed festive season. Our intensified operations and festive season plans around the area went well and definitely assisted in bringing crime levels down because we had less reported crimes and more arrests.”

While the festive season may be over, Xulu assured the community the operations will continue to ensure a drastic crime decrease in the area. Xulu regretted the shocking armed house robbery on Botanic Gardens Avenue on Sunday night which he personally attended. “We expect criminals to be busy in January after the festive season so are preparing for it. We will also continue with a zero tolerance stance on all criminal activity,” he added.
