Child Welfare appeals for help

Help educate a child by partnering with Child Welfare Durban and District.

CHILD Welfare Durban and District is appealing to the community to help give the children in its care an education.

“The greatest gift we can give children is an education. Educated children have an advantage in any endeavor they make, and their hopes for a brighter future can be realised,” said executive director, Melaine Pillay.

She said the cost of educating children places a huge financial demand on parents and care givers.

“Our organisation is responsible for educating approximately 300 scholars and we are in need of all the assistance we can get. We appeal to the community to contribute to a wonderful first day for those of our children who are just starting school. The public’s generosity will also improve the schooling careers of those who have progressed a long way through school,” she said.

Ten-year-old Simangaliso wishes to become a doctor after finishing high school and has a desire to attend to the health needs of people in his community.

“The public’s contribution to our organisation will make it easier to ensure that little Simangaliso’s dream become a reality. He is just one of the children in our care who needs help this year. Our children are the future and any contribution to their future is invaluable,” she said.

The public can partner with Child Welfare by asking for its needs list by calling 031 312 9313 or emailing siphiwev@cwdd.org.za, by visiting the offices at 20 Clarence Road, Windermere, or by making a deposit: Standard Bank, account number: 251139042, Kingsmead, 04-00-26.
