Registration opens for supplementary exams

Matrics who wish to write supplementary exams are urged to register.

REGISTRATION for supplementary exams has opened and the KZN Department of Education is urging matrics who qualify to write the supplementary exams to register to write the exams which will take place from 19 February to the end of March.

According to the department, more than 63 000 pupils failed the 2015 National Senior Certificate exams in KwaZulu-Natal.

“If you were to analyse the results, you will recognise that pupils might not have met the requirements but some of them have done very well in three, four or five subjects but they did not pass a number of subjects required for them to get a qualification.   They have an opportunity now to register for supplementary exams,” said  HOD Nkosinathi Sishi.

MEC Peggy Nkonyeni said there were other options for those pupils who did not pass or do as well as they had hoped.  She said it was a misleading notion that learners who had failed had reached the end of the road. ” It is not true,” she said.

As a province, KZN achieved an overall pass rate of 60.7%.
