Durban schools shine in IEB results

THE IEB matric results have been released and Durban schools have featured prominently.

DURBAN Girls’College has reason to feel proud after three of its pupils who were ranked in the top five per cent in six or more subjects in the country in the Independent Examination Board’s matric results. Another Durban Girls’ College pupil made it into the top 5% of pupils in five subjects.

The national pass rate for the IEB class of 2015 was 98.30%.

Every IEB matric in the country who passed qualified to study towards a degree, diploma or higher certificate at university, with 85.26% of them having passed well enough to earn a Bachelor’s degree pass.

Durban Girls’ College headmaster Thomas Hagspihl was delighted with the results and even more pleased that all 84 matrics had earned a Bachelor’s degree pass. He said he was astounded that 90 per cent of all symbols the girls achieved were As, Bs or Cs.

Maris Stella School also has two pupils on the outstanding achiever’s list, and a pupils on the commendable achievements list. Clifton College has one pupil on the outstanding achiever’s list.
