Taxi collisions leave dozens injured

Four taxis collided this morning injuring five people.

Five people were injured after four taxis collided at the intersection of Old Dutch Road and Warwick Avenue just after 8am this morning.

Rescue Care Paramedics assessed the scene and treated the five people who had been injured. One person sustained serious injuries. After the injured had been stabilised they were transported to  hospital.

It is unclear what caused the collision.

In a second incident this morning  19 people were injured, two of them critically, after the taxi they were travelling in spun out of control and rolled several times on the N3 north bound near Spaghetti Junction just after 7am.

Two patients who had sustained critical injuries were stabilized  at the scene by Rescue Care Advanced Life Support Paramedics. One of the critically injured was placed on a manual ventilator. Once all of the injured had been stabilized  they were transported to hospital.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
