Musgrave’s Engen family donate wheelchairs to QASA

A local youngster with a spinal deformity was happy to be part of his family business, Engen Musgrave which donated two wheelchairs to QASA on International Day for People with Disabilities.

AADIL MOOLLA was proud to be part of Engen Musgrave's handover of two wheelchairs to the QuadPara Association of South Africa, QASA, on Thursday, 3 December, the International Day for People with Disabilities.

Moolla, a paraplegic, born with Spina Bifida, a spinal deformity, has not let his disability get him down. With the instrumental influence and support of his parents, 25-year-old Aadil said he is reaching his dreams and goals. The youngster has worked alongside his father, Yusuf for the past ten years and has moved through the ranks from a “bit of admin work” to assistant dealer at the Engen garage. “It was a bit difficult moving around prior to our wheelchair friendly renovations, but since 2009 it is more accessible and I'm a lot more independent.”

“Never let disability prevent you from living a full life and dreaming big,” added Aadil.

Upon accepting the wheelchairs, QASA CEO, Ari Seirlis said, “The mobility of a wheelchair is a wonderful thing, but its got to be complimented by society making the areas accessible, not only toilets and parking access but also access to skills and employment.”

Seirlis said QASA was very proud of Engen's view towards access at their service stations. According to Seirlis, while QASA was “a grateful recipient of the wheelchairs,” there were plans in place at the organisation to develop skills of those who would be given the wheelchairs so they could not just have access to mobility but access to skills that will impact on them finding employment.
