Seven injured in pile-up

A woman received advanced life support following an accident in Maydon Road this morning.

SEVEN people have been injured after three vehicles collided at the intersection of Victoria Embankment and Maydon Road just before 9am this morning, 7 December.

Rescue Care Paramedics arrived to find that three vehicles had collided in the junction.

According to Garrith Jamieson from Rescue Care,  seven people had been injured with one patient needing advanced life support assistance.

“Once the severely injured lady had been stabilised in the vehicle she was carefully extricated using specialised spinal equipment before being transported to hospital. The remaining six people were also transported to nearby hospitals for further care,” he said.

Jamieson said at this stage it was unclear what caused the collision however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
