Golf day aids charity

The Natal Nomads Golf Club helped bring joy to the lives of babies at iThemba Lethu through its recent golf day.

THE Natal Nomads Golf Club held its annual golf day recently where the Andrew Mentis Foundation – Natal Nomads – selected Careways and iThemba Lethu as their two beneficiaries.

iThemba Lethu is a transition home for orphaned and abandoned children based in Manor Gardens, which also implements an HIV Prevention Programme with youth (Grade 5 – 7) in seven schools in Cato Manor and engages with parents/caregivers to build stronger families.

Karen Brokensha, programme co-ordinator, said: “We were so delighted to use their sponsorship to complete the astroturf for the gardens of two transition homes as this provides a happy and bright area for our 12 children to play all day and long after bath time!”

For more information on how to get involved with the homes or to participate in or sponsor the schools' Holiday Club Programme from 9 to 11 December, contact Karen on 031 261 7723 or www.ithembalethu.org.za
