Battle for justice continues for Glenwood crash victims

A month after a driver crashed into a Glenwood complex, residents are still no closer to getting answers after the driver disappeared with police.

GLENWOOD residents who are victims of a negligent driver have taken a decision to contact the Ombudsman after a month of attempts to get Umbilo police to investigate the incident which saw a reckless and negligent driver crash a Jeep into their complex, smashing two parked vehicles and two brick walls on the night of 24 October, have proved futile.

Disillusioned residents say they are no closer to seeing justice served after police who attended the scene failed to investigate the incident further.

Nosipho Bophela, chairperson of Elm Gardens Body Corporate and trustee Judith Yates said despite a meeting with the Umbilo police Station Commander, Colonel Gerald Mkhize two weeks ago, who hadapologised for the delay and promised a case would be investigated, nothing has changed.

“The third lot of policemen who came two weeks ago took our photos of the crash away with them and we haven't heard from them since,” Yates added.
