House break-in suspects arrested

The suspects allegedly stole property on Marriot Road in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

BEREA police arrested three suspects with suspected stolen property in the early hours of Tuesday morning. According to Captain TD Gumede, the Durban Central Cluster K9 Unit were patrolling when they received a complaint of a house breaking and theft on Marriot Road.

“On their arrival they discovered that members of the public had apprehended one man who was in possession of a cream/white folding table. They were also informed that two more suspects had run down DLI Avenue,” he explained.

After searching the area, the two suspects were spotted at the corner of Umgeni Road and Soldiers Way carrying similar folding tables. “Both suspects were arrested and taken to Berea SAPS together with the first suspect on charges of possession of suspected stolen property,” he added.

Minors found with dagga plants

Berea police were called to a Children’s home on the Berea on Monday after two girls were found with dagga plants on the premises.

The two minors, aged between 15 and 16 years old were arrested and released into the custody of their guardians and are expected to appear in juvenile court. Captain Thomas Naidoo with constables JD Sibeko and N Dlamini made the arrest.

“It is shocking that the youth are using drugs and these drugs are available to them. We will urge parents and caregivers to assist us and be on the lookout for suspicious behaviour in children,” Gumde added.
