UKZN Westville campus shut down by students

Classes were interrupted by members of the SRC.

AFTER UKZN vice-chancellor and principal, Dr Albert van Jaarsveld, sent out a statement to suspend all academic programmes for Thursday, 22 October and Friday, 23 October, with classes expected to resume on Monday, 26 October, students shut them down themselves.

Students were pulled out of classes by members of the SRC and other student protesters.

ANCYL Westville campus chairman, Prince Mthembu, said they will meet with Dr van Jaarsveld today, 26 October at 2pm at the medical school to discuss other issues that concern students.

“Until we meet with the principal, we believe there should not be any students attending lectures until all matters are discussed,” said Mthembu.
