SAPS Brighton Beach urges the community to keep a record of electrical goods in case of theft.
Capt Louise Le Roux said residents should record items such as digital cameras, GPS, television, and DVD players, and make a list of these items including make, model and serial numbers.
“SAPS requires this information on items that have been stolen to enable us to circulate such, and link criminals to crime scenes,” she said.
Add to your list the IMEI numbers, make and model of mobile devices such as mobile phones, tablets, IPad and dongles, and keep this list in a safe place.
“With community support we can solve crimes,” said Le Roux.
