Braai Day treat for elderly

Residents at Natal Settlers' Coronation House were treated to a braai to celebrate Heritage Day.

SEVEN local businesses reached out to bless those less fortunate for Heritage Day, and treated residents of Coronation House at Natal Settlers.

Coronation House is a very needy home that houses 70 aged residents, many of whom are disabled.

The businesses arranged a lamb on the spit accompanied with vegetables, salads and pudding for the residents. A musician played music that took the residents down memory lane and created a festive atmosphere.

“The business staff served the residents their meals and spent time talking with them and letting them know that they are not forgotten. We finished off the day by presenting each resident with a gift pack of toiletries and chocolates,” said Hayley Marot from Marot and Sanders.

Natal Settlers extended a huge thank you to Dirks Davenport, Marot and Sanders Advertising, Peppers and Pans Catering, Remax, Rotary Club of Durban, Idube Security and Davenport Square for making this memorable day possible.

Hayley said the aim was to make this an annual event and to bring more companies on board to impact on the community and those less fortunate.
