DURBAN drama teacher Colin Chapman (50) appeared in the Durban regional Court on Thursday afternoon and pleaded guilty to 230 counts relating to the possession and creation of child pornography and the grooming and exploiting of children for the production of child pornography.
Chapman, who was employed at a Durban boys’ high school, received a three year sentence and a fine of R100 000 which will be donated to the Open Door Crises Centre in Pinetown. According to reports Chapman chatted to two students via blackberry messenger and paid them for pictures of their genitals.
The court ordered that Chapman be added to the sexual offenders register and is to attend a sexual offenders programme organised by the Department of Correctional Services.
