Berea drug dealer arrested on Musgrave Road

A "well known" drug dealer was arrested with R10 000 worth of drugs on Musgrave Road last night.

Durban Flying Squad Narcotics Team arrested a man in an operation last night at Musgrave following intelligence on ae “well-known drug dealer” operating in the Berea area.

According to KZN police spokesman, Colonel Jay Naicker, police investigations revealed that the dealer would delivering drugs to a premises on Musgrave Road on Wednesday evening. “After conducting observation on the premises they found the suspect inside a VW Polo. During a search of the vehicle police officers recovered 17 packets of cocaine, 14 packets of methcathinone and one packet of crystal meth,” said Naicker.

The 27-year-old man was arrested and detained at the Berea police station. He was charged for dealing in drugs.

The drugs have an estimated street value of more than R10 000. Naicker said police officers from the Flying Squad also seized R12 600 in cash that was found in the suspect’s possession. “It is believed that the cash is from the proceeds of drug dealing. Police discovered the man had been previously arrested for dealing in drugs. He will appear in the Durban Magistrates Court,” added Naicker.
