Influx at Berea SAPS for public service posts

The South African Police Service embarked on a recruitment campaign to boost service delivery and Berea police have been inundated with job seekers looking to gain entry into the public and police service.

The recruitment drive will enlist an additional 6252 members across the country during the 2015/2016 financial year, Berea SAPS communications officer, Captain TD Gumede said.

“Five thousand of the additional personnel would be appointed where SAPS is in need of additional capacity, such as detective services, visible policing, crime intelligence, forensic services, and protection and security services environments.

“Our national commissioner, General Riah Phiyega emphasised that stringent measures will be implemented to ensure that people with criminal records, pending cases and those that do not meet the criteria do not find a way into SAPS,” he added.

A delegation from National and Provincial Management also facilitated a community based Recruitment Imbizo drive at Curries Fountain stadium on Tuesday, where thousands of applicants wishing to join the SAPS attended.
