They will be remembered

A salute will go out to those men and women who have made the supreme sacrifice while serving the Guns, at a memorial service on 6 September.

ANYONE who has served in any Artillery unit in any army or anyone who is interested in matters military, is encouraged to attend the Annual Gunners’ Dinner and Memorial Service on Friday 4 September and Sunday 6 September.

The dinner will be held at the Westville Country Club and the traditional toast to “The Guns” will be proposed by Major General Roland de Vries, former Deputy Chief of the South African Army and author of the highly acclaimed book entitled “The Eye of the Firestorm”.

The cost is R220 per person.

The annual memorial service will be at the Gunners’ Memorial in the grounds of the Old Fort in Durban at 11.15am for 11.30am. The Natal Field Artillery will fire two salvos with their 25-pdr field guns at two minute intervals as a salute to those men and women who have made the supreme sacrifice while serving the Guns. Light refreshments will be served after the service at the Natal Field Artillery HQ in Lords Ground, Old Fort Road.
