The Democratic Alliance is saddened by the passing of one of its eThekwini councillors, Brian Jayanathan.
Brian succumbed to a gallant fight against cancer early this morning.
Although he was severely ill for several months, he remained upbeat and positive throughout his ordeal and spent his days inspiring the country to never give up the fight against cancer.
In this regard,he made a significant contribution to the work of many cancer organisations and also chronicled his life experiences in a recently published book titled Breaking Barriers.
Brian was a PR councillor allocated to the Tongaat area of Durban and was a well known community activist in the area.
His dedication and commitment to building his community will be sorely missed.
