Learn all about the new liquor bill

The community are urged to attend a meeting on the new proposed liquor bill on Monday 3 August.

FIND out all you need to know about the proposed new liquor bill at at meeting on Monday 3 August at the St James’ Church on Florida Road from 5.30pm for 6pm.

Various Members of Parliament will interact with the public on this important bill that affects all residents.

“The purpose is not only to inform residents of the Liquor Bill and it’s implications, but also to get feedback from the public. In a democratic system it is important for Member of Parliament to interact with the public and gain input from the public regarding matters of importance. This ill thus be a valuable opportunity to air your views on matters regarding the sale and consumption of alcohol,” said councillor Martin Meyer.

The meeting will be addressed by Dean McPhearson, Deputy Shadow Minister of Trade and Industry, John Steenhuizen, Chief Whip of the DA in Parliament, Mergan Chetty MP, Member of the NCOP, Rishigen Viranna MPL the DA’s Spokesperon on Public Safety in KZN and Haniif Hoosen Shadow Minister of Home Affairs.

Councillor Meyer invites all residents of the Berea and surrounds to attend this meeting as the areas are affected by the awarding of liquor licences.
