Apply for scholarship

Motivated Grade 6 learners are encouraged to apply for the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation’s scholarship.

THE Allan Gray Orbis Foundation is providing South Africa’s brightest Grade 6 learners with the opportunity to shape their future by applying for the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation’s scholarship.

The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation is looking for South Africa's future high-impact entrepreneurs and upon selection, the Allan Gray scholars gain access to a quality high school education, consisting of financial and developmental support. Scholars also participate in the foundation's development programme, which aims to develop an entrepreneurial mindset.

The scholarship covers full high school tuition and boarding fees. In addition, scholars will receive allowances to subsidise travel, stationery, prescribed books, toiletries, school uniforms, civilian clothing, pocket money and extra-mural activities.

Applicants must achieve 70 per cent or higher in mathematics and English and an average of 70 per cent in both Grade 5 and 6.

Evidence of entrepreneurial potential includes intellectual imagination where the child enjoys being creative and innovative, achievement excellence and setting high academic and non-academic standards, the child must be courageous and determined, brave and persistent, want to impact others and make a difference and is prepared to take action to address challenges.

Applications must be completed and submitted by Friday, 30 October. The applicant must demonstrate financial need and must be a South African citizen.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to submit their annual national assessment results and to attend an interview, and those who qualify will be invited to attend a two-day selection camp, which is the final stage of the selection process.
