MC CORD Hospital staff spent time at Edith Benson Children’s Home on Friday as part of their Mandela Day activities.
According to Zodwa Mbatha, pro for McCord, the staff collected donations and cash to contribute to the Home’s wish list. “I want to thank the staff for their generous donations of groceries, including soap, soup, tinned goods, cereal, chips and toys,” she said.
Some staff also arrived at the Home armed with rubber gloves and rakes to clean the windows and garden. “We didn’t want to just donate, but get together and physically do something for the kids and spend our 67 minutes helping,” Mbatha added.
Pia Kemble, a social worker at the Home was touched by the generosity of the hospital. “The support we are receiving is amazing. every bit counts and makes a difference in the children’s lives,” she added.
