Salvation Army reaches out

The Salvation Army has expanded its weekly outreach programme for Mandela Day.

The Salvation Army has expanded its weekly outreach programme for Mandela Day in order to give more to the underprivileged.

The Salvation Army distributed blankets, beanies, scarves and toiletry bags (containing a facecloth, soap, toothpaste and toothbrush) from its Montpelier Corps in Morningside on Thursday 16 July to help those in need. Food was also on offer in addition to their soup kitchen every Thursday.

Susan Kidgell, the community care secretary for the Salvation Army said, “All the beanies and scarves were made by people from the church and community who volunteered to help. Special thanks must be given to Standard Bank who supplied the blankets we gave out.”

To support the Salvation Army you can SMS “Trust” to 42290 for R30 or visit their website www.salvationarmy.org.za to find out more.
