Stats survey moves to Essenwood, Sydenham

Stats SA will have three clearly identifiable field workers conducting a survey at households in the Essenwood and Sydenham area.

STATISTICS South Africa will continue their survey programme in Durban moving to the Essenwood and Sydenham areas.

Residents can expect three field workers visiting the various suburbs in the near future, as part of Stats SA’s survey programme.

A Living Condition Survey (LCS) is currently being conducted in sampled households across the country by a team of field workers. Stats SA is a government department and is mandated (in terms of the Statistics Act No. 6 of 1999) to collect information and produce official statistics. The LCS is conducted every five years and provides information on consumer spending patterns, consumption and poverty levels.

Households have been selected across all nine provinces within South Africa to participate in this year-long survey, which commenced in October 2014 and will conclude in October 2015.

Households have been selected across all nine provinces within South Africa to participate in this year-long survey, which commenced in October 2014 and will conclude in October 2015.

Pooja Dhir, Mbongeni Shandu and Nomcebo Mkhize are responsible for collecting data in the Essenwood and Sydenham area. Along with members of the publicity team, they will be visiting households which have been scientifically selected to participate. They will be wearing Stats SA bibs, a Stats SA cap, they will have identification and will be driving a Stats SA branded vehicle. The team will be visiting the abovementioned areas over a period of four to six weeks to engage with selected households regarding what is required in terms of their participation in this important survey.

All information provided by households will remain confidential as per the Statistics Act.
