AA warns of looming fuel hike

Motorists may face a fuel hike of between 43 cents and 46 cents a litre in July.

MOTORISTS are being warned to brace themselves for another possible fuel increase in July.

According to a report from the Automobile Association (AA), the rand/US dollar exchange has weakened since May with the rand losing around 40 cents to the US currency which has contributed to close to half the predicted increase in the price of petrol. Other contributing factors, according to the AA, are the fluctuations in the landed prices of petroleum products.

The AA is expecting a hike in the price of petrol of between 43c and 46c a litre, with a lesser increase of around six cents per litre for diesel and paraffin.
