Glenwood mourns death of matric boy

Glenwood High School mourns the loss of one of its matric pupils, Tristan Stewart, who was killed in a multiple vehicle collision last week.

GLENWOOD High School staff and pupils are mourning the loss of one of their own.

Young sports star and school prefect, Tristan Stewart was killed in a collision involving a number of vehicles on the N3 on Wednesday.

Principal, Mr Trevor Kershaw, posted the school’s condolences to the Stewart family on the school’s Facebook page last Wednesday.
“It is with great sadness that we heard today about the passing away of one of our prefects, Tristan Stewart. The staff and boys of Glenwood High School would like to express their deepest condolences to his family and friends.”

Tristan arrived at Glenwood in Form II. He immediately made his presence felt at Glenwood and played cricket and rugby. He was 37th in the Form when he got there and remained thereabouts; always a good academic.

It was at TO Strand in his Form V year that his unrelenting attitude was clearly evident and he was elected as a prefect in Matric in 2015.
His academics remained strong, achieving 4 As in term one of 2015.

Kershaw said: “He was combative by nature and this came to the fore as a prefect and as a member of the 2nd XV. He stood back for no one. He was a whirlwind and his positive attitude was infectious. Nothing was ever done at half-pace. We will miss Tristan, but he will never be forgotten.”
