“The future of humanity is increasingly African,” says a recent report by Unicef, the UN children’s agency, which also  points out that, by 2100, on current rates, almost half the children under 18 in the world will be African.

With over a billion people, Africa is the world’s second-largest and second-most-populous continent. At about 30.2 million km² including adjacent islands, it covers six percent of Earth’s total surface area and 20.4 percent of its total land area.

Projections for 2025 range from 1.397-billion to 1.486-billion. By 2050 the number of people in Africa is expected to increase by another billion and by 2100 the United Nations forecasts there will be 4.185-billion people on the continent.
