UMBILO SAPS has issued a warning to the community to be alert and avoid becoming a victim of carjacking.
According to Sgt Beverley Manqele, many carjacking victims are being held up at gun point while sitting or standing in isolated places.
“They are a soft target for hijackers,” said Manqele.
She said people should always be vigilant when leaving or approaching their homes or business premises as this is when criminals take full advantage.
“Always observe the vehicle following you. Some of the victims who have reported cases have even been followed home from shopping centres,” she said.
