City to deal with Feilden Drive dumping

The municipality said illegal dumping in Feilden Drive is a problem.

ETHEKWINI municipality is in agreement with resident, Deon Braun, that illegal dumping in Feilden Drive, Glenmore, is a major problem.

eThekwini Head of Communications, Tozi Mthethwa, said that Feilden Drive is swept once a week, however the municipality had found that illegal dumping remained a problem.

Braun has highlighted the issue of illegal dumping on several occasions and challenged municipal officials to to a walk-through assessment of the area to determine the extent of the problem and the severe lack of litter bins.

In response, Mthethwa said the relevant Municipal Unit attended to complaints whenever residents reported the matter. “The bags that had been illegally dumped have been cleared. In future, the city will conduct an assessment on the placement of litter bins in the area to determine whether or not additional bins are required,” she said.

She said in efforts to maintain a clean and sustainable City, the municipality was urging residents to report illegal dumping and non-collection of refuse to 031 311 8804.
