Course to enhance speaking skills

Get top advice on how to be a good public speaker at the public Speech Craft course.

A GROUP of highly qualified toastmasters and trainers have put together a two-day public Speech Craft course, to be held on 9 and 10 May at the IMM offices, 245 Peter Mokaba (North Ridge) Road, intersection of Valley View Road, Morningside.

“More and more people are expected to do presentations at work yet it is the one thing that people most fear,” said Jason Sanders, Speech Craft chairman.

Jason said the course is designed to improve speaking skills and will cover how to prepare and present a speech as well as dealing with impromptu speeches and how to recognise the elements of a good speech or presentation. It will also include a section on preparing and presenting talks with visual aids and how to deal with difficult questions from the audience.

The cost of the course is R1 880, which includes the cost of a joining fee and six months free membership to a toastmasters club of the delegates’ choice.

“Places are limited as we are only taking on 30 delegates to ensure they have as much individual attention as possible. We urge those interested to contact us within the next 10 days as places for the course will be on a first come first served basis,” said Jason.
