Don your tekkies for charity

Buy your sticker and wear your tekkies on Tekkie Tax Day, 29 May.

WEAR your tekkies and add some colourful laces to support Tekkie Tax Day, Friday 29 May, to support Child Welfare Durban and District.

Tekkie Tax is a national fundraising campaign for nearly 300 welfare organisations who have joined forces for a big campaign with big impact.

To participate on the day and help raise funds for organisations like Child Welfare, you can buy a sticker at R10, zhoosh up your tekkies with a pair of funky shoelaces at R30 and wear your tekkies and sticker on 29 May.

In 2014, R4.8 million was raised for various charities through this campaign.

Melaine Pillay, executive director of Child Welfare Durban and District said the organisation has rendered its services to children and their families over the past 97 years.

“We have 40 000 children on our database who need attention. We have nine offices from Umlazi to Umhlanga and we run an accredited international adoption service. We joined Tekkie Tax for the third year to help us raise much-needed funds and encourage the community to support us,” she said.
