Babies home advised to apply for social grant

Councillor Halalisani Ndlovu hopes HOLAH will be in line to receive a grant in aid.

THE House of Love and Hope (HOLAH) in Glenmore is hoping to be in line for a grant from government.

PR councillor, Halalisani Ndlovu, has visited the baby house on a few occasions to explain the process and procedures of the grant in aid and what it entails.

Councillor Ndlovu said the programme, through a committee, empowers organisations and funds a vast range of organisations. Once organisations are chosen, they are put on a database and after budget allocations, funds are made available to support them.

Councillor Ndlovu noticed the good work HOLAH was doing in the community and advised Leanne Lorrance and Kim Brown to apply when applications open again.

“I just wanted to inform them and get them on track. I feel they will be accepted as not only charities are funded, but also creches and homes like this. Leanne and Kim go above and beyond in their care of these babies, they don't go home at the end of the day, like others,” said Ndlovu.

Leanne said this was a great opportunity. “We would appreciate this help, although the community has been amazing!” she said.

The women said in the meantime, any donations of formula and second-hand clothing or equipment would be appreciated.

“Our goal is to open a second home for toddlers next year, once HOLAH is 100 per cent sustainable. We look forward to moving on to this next project,” said Leanne.
