Hijackers flee in Glenwood shooting

Two hijackers fired gunshots and fled on foot in Glenwood after being cornered by police this afternoon.

TWO men fired gunshots as they got away on foot after a botched hijacking in Glenwood this afternoon.

The vehicle was parked near St Johns Church when the driver was held up at gun point by the two suspects before they drove down Clark Road and fled after spotting police on their tail a spokesman for the shaken victim said at the scene.

The vehicle veered into ongoing traffic and came to a stop at the corner of Clark and Baxter Roads. Witnesses at the scene said the men fired shots before they disappeared down Baxter Place.

Police were on scene when Berea Mail arrived however, could not comment on the shooting until Umbilo police arrived.
