DHS basketballers excel

Durban High School basketballers represented KwaZulu-Natal at the South African Schools Sports Basketball Championship.

DURBAN High School recently represented KwaZulu-Natal at the South African Schools Sports Basketball Championship at the University of Pretoria, and performed exceptionally well.

The DHS first team played a number of high schools in the first round beating Limpopo 81-21, Free State 98-24 and finally the North West team 99-32. They advanced to the semi-finals, where they played an exciting match against the Eastern Cape team beating them 92-34.

Advancing to the finals, filled with enthusiasm against the Western Cape team, the final result saw DHS being declared the U18 tournament champions with a final score of 73-37. Two boys of the winning DHS team, 16-year-old- Sicelo Dzingwa and 18-year-old Samkelo Cele, said that the experience was an awesome one and an event they would remember for time to come.
