Reports of unruly crowds clashing with police during the march betray another side to the peaceful movement.

Thousands of people congregated at Curries Fountain earlier today to march to City Hall under heavy police presence for a Peace March against xenophobic violence.

Reports of sporadic altercations between police and unhappy-looking crowds seem to have marred what has been an otherwise peaceful march led by KZN Premier Senzo Mchunu and Mayor James Nxumalo that seeks to bring an end to the spate of xenophobic attacks afflicting the greater eThekwini region.
