Manor Gardens residents assaulted in home invasion

Women were attacked in their home in Manor Gardens by armed criminals.

SEVERAL residents were assaulted during a home invasion in Manor Gardens in the early hours of Monday morning.

Blue Security operations manager Brian Jackson said three men armed with knives and a firearm burst onto the property at around 2.40am and assaulted at least four residents.

“The gang fled with a television, cellphones, laptops and cash. They also unsuccessfully tried to steal one of the resident’s vehicles,” he said.

Careline Crisis and Netcare 911 paramedics treated the women on site. Mayville SAPS attended the scene of the crime.

In an earlier violent attack, a gang of four men held up and assaulted a security guard at a business premises in Killarney Terrace in Morningside at 5.23am on Sunday.

“The armed robbers stabbed the security guard in the head with a screwdriver and forced their way into the premises and ransacked the place. The men fled with eight computers and two laptops. The security guard’s supervisor attended the scene and took him for medical treatment,” he said.

Durban Central SAPS attended the scene of the crime.

Jackson said an armed robbery was also reported at 6am on Wednesday at a business premises in Windermere Road.

“The robbers derailed the gate and then held up the caretaker at gunpoint in his room at the back of the property. They forced open the burglar bars and the back door to the business premises. The gang fled with electric drills, angle grinders and other tools,” he said.

The caretaker was not injured during the robbery. Durban Central SAPS attended the scene of the crime.

Jackson added that a resident was hijacked in Feilden Drive in Carrington Heights at 5.16pm on Tuesday.

“The resident was about to enter his property when two men approached him and held him up at gunpoint, ordering him to stand against the wall. The men hijacked him of his green Mini Cooper and fled the scene. There were no injuries,” he said.
