Community loses stalwart Jane Lovejoy

The community has been saddened by the loss of resident, Jane Lovejoy.

THE Glenwood community was saddened by the loss of one of its members, Jane Lovejoy, who died on 14 March after a short illness.

Jane was a staunch supporter of the work of the Bulwer Community Safety Forum and was a regular contributor on its Facebook page.
Chairperson, Heather Rorick, said: “The pure shock, hurt and sadness that passed over me when I was informed of Jane’s passing is still with me even today. Jane was a very straight forward person, who called it as she saw it and did not sugar coat anything for anyone, but that is what made people take to her, and love her honesty and her directness which she got across in a quirky, but fun manner that never made people feel bad or angry.”

Heather said Jane had loved her community and the people around her and worried about their health and safety. She was one of Bulwer Community Safety Forum’s most genuine, faithful and caring members, and a very dear friend to many of the group.

“She became a very special friend to me. I had the privilege to meet her and her husband at a restaurant one day, a very special bond was formed between us. She was my rock when things went wrong, her concern and words of wisdom to me were priceless, and her concern for not only me but others as well was genuine. I will miss her dearly but know she had got her wish, and that was not to be separated from her soul mate and love of her life, her husband. She expressed to me after her husband passed, that he was her life, and now her life was gone, but she had lived many good years. My condolences to Jane’s family and friends. Thoughts and prayers go with you all,” said Heather.

Councillor Jethro Lefevre said Jane was an amazing woman and a great champion of the people. He said she would leave a legacy of inspiration for people to stand up for their rights.
