Three arrested at Dalton hostel

Umbilo SAPS members arrested three people and recovered boxes of stolen goods.

UMBILO Crime Prevention Unit arrested three men at Dalton Hostel on 6 March.

Police were patrolling around the Umbilo area when they received a tip off about suspected stolen goods being kept in one of the rooms at hostel. Police proceeded to an identified room where they found three suspects aged between 20 and 30 years.

The room was searched and 88 boxes containing glassware, two boxes containing artificial flowers and 20 boxes containing photo frames were found.

The suspects could not give a satisfactory explanation as to how they got the property. A case of possession of property suspected to be stolen was opened at Umbilo police station. The suspects were charged accordingly.

KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Mmamonnye Ngobeni commended the members for the swift arrest of the suspects.
“Our members are committed and dedicated in making sure that criminals do not get away with their criminal activities,” said Lt Gen Ngobeni.
