Brazen criminals hit business

Three thieves tried to steal a truck from a business premises in Glenwood on Sunday, 15 February.

A BUSINESS in Somerset Avenue, Glenwood was lucky to escape a robbery on Sunday, 15 February.

According to a staff member, at around 6.42am on 15 February three men tried to steal a truck from inside the business premises.

“The men drove up in a white VW Golf 5 and one of the men lifted the gate off its rails. Three men entered and went to the back of the premises where they seemed to be looking underneath the truck parked out back, trying to see how they could steal it,” she said.

She said the security guard heard the men and approached them, and they started running away. One of the men drew his gun and pointed it at the guard’s dog before getting away with the others. The security guard tried to run out to see the number plate on the car but they were gone. One of the neighbours came out and helped put the gate back on the rail.

“We suspect that they operating in the area, looking for other vehicles to steal. This incident was reported to the police and they were caught on our CCTV footage, although their faces are not clear. There is a lot of crime in this road. When we first moved in men tried to mug a woman walking on the street, but staff from our business heard her screaming and went to assist. People are trying to get on with business and these criminals are bringing them down,” she said.
