Support Morningside night market

The next Morningside Night Market will support leukaemia sufferer, Robbie Eddels, and The Sunflower Fund.

THE Morningside Night Market will be held on Friday, 27 February at Morningside Sports Club from 4pm.

The market was created to bring the Morningside community together while supporting the growth of Morningside Sports Club, which is in desperate need of funding due to the dwindling number of bowlers and tennis players.

The market is held indoors at the sports club on the last Friday of the month from 4pm, and is in lovely park-like surroundings where people can spill out and eat while the children play in a secure area.

Organisers hope to create a relaxed atmosphere with wonderful food and entertainment in a welcoming shopping environment, where members of the community will be able to take their children to enjoy fun activities.

There are a number of stalls that sell healthy local produce and fresh food that can either be taken home or eaten at the tables provided or as a picnic on the grass. There is a host of other products on offer, such as clothing, jewellery, linen, art, health products, organic veggies, delicious treats, fresh breads, cheeses, flowers and more. A licensed bar is run by the club.

Every month the market will support a different charity. The market on 27 February will support The Sunflower Fund and Robbie Eddels, a young boy who is in desperate need of a bone marrow transplant. Visitors to the market will be able to register as bone marrow donors and donate a vial of blood on the night.

Robbie Eddels is a brave 13-year-old Durban boy with leukaemia. He and many other South African children are in dire need of compatible bone marrow donors. The odds of finding a compatible donor are very small and it is important that as many as possible are recruited to give blood samples and to be registered on the South African Bone Marrow Registry.
