FREE public talk on Sunday, 1 February at 10am at the Theosophical Society, 306 Avondale Road, Morningside, Durban.

Shirley Moon, a long-time member of the Sufi Movement in South Africa, will give a lecture entitled 'The Rose Garden'.

Mrs Moon has been a student of Hazrat Inayat Khan teachings for over 20 years and this lecture is inspirational and timeless.

A FREE foundation course in meditation will be held on Monday, 2 February from 6pm to 7pm at Brahma Kumaris Glenwood, 39 Maze Road, Glenwood, Durban.

THE CANSA cancer support group is being formed at CANSA in Durban for the Berea and surrounding areas on 3 February at 6pm at 619 Umbilo Road.

The opening speaker will be Dr Nirvadha Singh, who will be speaking about the disease of cancer, the good news and the myths, which will be followed by an introduction to the work of the Cancer Association of SA and bingo thereafter.

THE Durban Rock Alliance hosts a music quiz evening at The Winston Pub on Wednesday, 4 February at 6.30pm.

THE AGM of the University of the Third Age will be on Wednesday, 4 February at 9am for 9.30am in the Glenwood Presbyterian Church hall (entrance in Evans Road).

The guest speaker will be Tristan Dickerson, general manager at PheZulu Safari Park and Leopard Programme Co-ordinator for Panthera, an organisation devoted to the conservation of endangered wild cats and their eco-systems.

Entrance is free for U3A members, visitors are welcome at R20 and a donation of R5 for tea which will be served before the meeting.

THE KwaZulu-Natal Branch of the South African Military History Society will meet on Thursday, 12 February at the Murray Lecture Theatre, Department of Civil Engineering, University of KwaZulu-Natal Howard College Campus at 7pm.

The speakers will be Roy Bowman on 'The Battle of Santa Cruz, 25th October 1942' and Dr Alex Coutts on 'Shaka – His Military Career'.
