A man was arrested by Berea police for stabbing another man with a scissors outside an Overport shopping centre last week.

A suspect who allegedly stabbed a man with a pair of scissors last Monday morning was arrested by quick thinking Berea policemen.

According to Lieutenant PN Naidoo, Berea SAPS communications officer, at about  8am that morning, Lieutenant Colonel DV Pillay, Captain T Mekuete and Sergeant A Du Randt received a complaint about a man who had been stabbed and was lying in Juniper Road outside an Overport shopping centre.

“They responded and saw the victim being treated by paramedics. Police looked for witnesses who could tell them what happened and found someone who gave them a description of the suspect,” explained Naidoo.

After hearing that the victim was stabbed with a scissors, Lt Col Pillay and his members patrolled the area and Sgt A Du Randt spotted the suspect.

“The members stopped and searched the suspect and found the scissors in his possession with blood stains. The 25 year old suspect confessed to the fight and was arrested and charged with attempted murder and detained at SAP Berea. The victim was taken to hospital and is in a stable but critical condition,” added Naidoo.
