Rotary honours Madonsela
Thuli Madonsela was awarded with a Paul Harris at an event at the ICC.
SOUTH African Public Protector, Thuli Madonsela, was recently presented with a Paul Harris Fellowship by the Rotary Club of Durban North’s President, Dael Connolly at the International Convention Centre.
The Paul Harris Fellowship is the highest award that can be conferred on an individual. The Public Protector received a standing ovation from all those present.
The Rotary Club of Durban North did not actually anticipate, in the initial stage, that this event would become a reality, rather expecting to receive a polite decline probably due to Madonsela's work load.
During her address Madonsela said the image of Rotary she had perceived in her youth was that it consisted essentially of rich people. She praised Rotary International for being an organisation which provided charitable, community service promoting peace and goodwill throughout the world.
