Glenwood salon ready to spread Christmas cheer

A local Glenwood salon are spreading festive cheer with a donation of collected Chrsitmas gifts to St Martin's Children's Home.

A GLENWOOD salon has undertaken their own toy drive to spread cheer to the children at St Martin’s Children’s Home.

Natasha McGregor-Iangley a stylist at Glenwood’s Tenacity Hair salon, decided to give back to the Glenwood home last month and asked customers and friends to bring new toys as Christmas presents for the children.

“We did the collection as part of our social responsibility because the community has blessed us as a salon so we wanted to give back. The response from the community was overwhelming, within two weeks we collected 73 Christmas gifts as well as lovely used toys for them to keep. Thanks to all who donated and to Darrel Williams from Urban Pizza for sponsoring our Pizza gift wrapping party,” Natasha said.

Last Thursday, she and Tenacity Hair owner, Janine Prinsloo got together with a group of ladies, supporters of the initiative to have a pizza gift wrapping party ahead of the drop off at St Martin’s.

The stylist said they chose St Martin’s because it was one of Durban’s longest standing children’s homes which was part of the Glenwood community.

Claire Langridge, one of the project’s big supporters said she was excited to be part of the project at the home as it had a special place in her heart because her father lived there when he was a little boy.
