Risk of load-shedding this weekend says Eskom

Eskom said there's a risk of load-shedding at the weekend.

ESKOM’S media desk has confirmed that there is a risk of load-shedding at the weekend, but said a full media release would be sent out before the start of the weekend in the case of load-shedding being implemented.

Areas currently experiencing power cuts would be due to faults at a local level and not due to Eskom’s generating capacity the media desk said.

Last weekend Eskom said it implemented emergency load-shedding  due to unforeseen technical problems at power stations, which depleted water reserves at its peaking power stations, which use water to generate electricity. This, according to Eskom, depleted diesel reserves to fire up the open-cycle gas turbines. Stage one load-shedding was implemented.
