Murder suspects nabbed in cop chase

Four men arrested for murder in Durban.

A literal blood trail is what led  to the arrest of four men suspected of being responsible for the death of a security guard in Durban this week.

According to a report in the Mercury newspaper, the  gang of  four attacked a pair of security guards  in KwaMashu’s E-section on Tuesday.

The paper reports that one of the guards was shot dead after he opened fire on the gang, wounding one of the assailants. The second guard is reportedly recovering in hospital.

A trail of blood presumably left by the wounded man  led police to a local hostel. Further investigation eventually led them to Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital where the wounded assailant was allegedly seeking medical treatment, the report claims.

It goes on to say the police arrested  the men after they tried making a quick getaway by driving through the hospital’s main gate, hitting another vehicle and driving into oncoming traffic.

They were charged with murder, attempted murder and armed robbery, and would appear in the Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court soon.
