WHILE friends and family mourn the tragic loss of Morningside student Shrivaar Panday at his funeral in Ottawa and Clare Estate on Tuesday , KZN police appeal to witnesses of his murder to come forward.

Major Thulani Zwane, provincial police spokesman confirmed that no arrests have been made. “We are appealing to the public and any witnesses to the crime to contact Mayville police detectives with information.”

Zwane said the motive for the murder was not clear despite investigating allegations of it being due to an attempted hijacking or smash and grab incident. Witnesses can contact Mayville SAPS on 031 2037181 with any information that could be helpful to the investigation.

Outrage over the tragic murder filtered through social media as tributes to the promising student who was described as a pleasant, humble young man with a “larger than life character whose laughter could be heard from a distance.”
