Student makes heartfelt donation

In lieu of a 21st birthday party, a young psychology student decided to gift Action in Autism a R2500 donation.

ACTION in Autism were overwhelmed at their AGM on Saturday, after receiving a special cash donation boost thanks to a young student.

Ashvir Dalu, a young man who is very passionate about autism, celebrated his 21st birthday on Friday, 10 October. “Rather than thinking only of himself and partying it up as most young people his age do when they come of age, the young psychology student chose to donate R2500 to the Action in Autism Early Learning Intervention Centre in Sydenham,” said Action in Autism manager, Kirsten Miller.

Ashvir visited the centre on Saturday, the day of the the organisation’s AGM, and handed over his donation to Liza Aziz, founder and chairperson of the organisation. Ashvir would like to encourage other young people with the same passion to do what he has done. “A gift to autism is worth more than a party,” he said.

Ashvir wished his gift would go to “each and every gifted, special and remarkable individual (with autism), as well as those who are their pillars of strength in times that not many would dare venture into.” Ashvir thanked the organisation for helping the world to become a better place by assisting those with autism.
